Job Title:

Maintenance Supervisor

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, as well as all company safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Adhere to the planned maintenance schedule to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Measure and monitor the effectiveness of maintenance activities to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
  • Monitor the availability of critical machine spares and manage lead times to minimize downtime.
  • Manage contractors to ensure work is completed on schedule and to the required quality standards.
  • Take a hands-on leadership approach, leading by example and supporting the maintenance team on the ground.
  • Drive improvements in equipment availability, reliability, and overall plant performance.
  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and control maintenance costs within the allocated budget.
  • Mentor team members and identify opportunities for training, development, and upskilling.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum N4 qualification in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
  • Trade Tested Electrician or Millwright.
  • Minimum of 5 years' post-trade test experience.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Maintenance Supervisor or similar leadership role within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a plastics injection moulding manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong practical experience in:
    • Fault finding and diagnostics
    • Industrial electronics
    • Variable speed drives (VSDs)
    • Servo motors
    • PLC controls
    • Pneumatics
    • Advanced hydraulic systems
    • Reading and interpreting electrical and hydraulic schematic diagrams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using SAP or a similar ERP system would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Sound knowledge of, and commitment to, ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System procedures and instructions.
